Yes — both phones need to stay on, unlocked, and connected to WiFi or cable the entire time.

It usually means your Google account storage is full.

You can either:

  • Delete old files/emails in Gmail or Drive
  • Buy extra space (Google One starts from a few bucks a month)
  • Use a second Google account with more free space

Try using:

  • A USB-C to USB-C cable
  • A USB-A to USB-C cable with an adapter

If you don’t have the right cable, just transfer using WiFi. It takes a bit longer, but works well.
